A fast-casual restaurant serving build-your-own bowls, steamed buns, and dessert. Everything is prepared in an exotic fashion, making the food truly look alien.
Two-sentence insider summary
Disney had a bit of a struggle to try and come up with signature dishes and drinks from a film property that features none. But don’t worry – some of the unusual food options (such as the cheeseburger pod) and the unusually-prepared dishes (the chocolate cake, for example, has an interesting combination of textures) mean that everything has to be tried, at least once.
Overview
Satu’li Canteen is something of a break from the traditional Disney counter-service experience. It balances a menu with vegetarian or vegan options as well as grilled beef or a cheeseburger. There is also a separate menu listing extensive gluten-free options. Guests can build their own bowls – just pick your protein (beef, chicken, shrimp, or tofu), then add on your base (quinoa, potato hash, rice, or salad) and your sauce (charred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette, or creamy herb dressing). Also available are steamed pods (vegetable curry or cheeseburger) and desserts (blueberry cheesecake or chocolate cake), with everything being presented in a way that makes you feel like you really are eating human food on an alien planet (have you seen the cheesecake?).
The other distinguishing factor with Satu’li is its participation in a brand-new program called Mobile Order. Using the My Disney Experience app, customers can order (customization is still possible) and then pay for their food; once at the restaurant, they hit the “I’m here” button, which is the kitchen staff’s cue to start making the meal. Once it’s ready, patrons head to a special window, bypassing the (main) line altogether.

Satu’li Canteen – extended review
Alpha Centauri Expeditions, the company responsible for bringing Terran eco-tourists to Pandora, took this abandoned Resources Development Administration (the bad-guy organization from Avatar) Quonset hut and refurbished it into a customer-friendly eatery. Once guests walk past the mess hall portion of the canteen, they’re able to see a number of showcased Na’vi art and cultural items and experience food that has been cultivated from the alien moon (but still fashioned in familiar Earth ways).
