Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde explains how ‘Avatar’ will continue Animal Kingdom’s legacy

|

When Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened back in 1998, one of the biggest aspects of the park was the focus on the conservation and preservation of nature. In an all-new video, Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde explains how the parks newest and biggest expansion ever, Pandora – The World of Avatar, will continue that legacy.

Joe mentions in the video that “Every event that happens on Pandora, every animal you see, every plant you see, things that happen to you, those are all tied to real things on Planet Earth.”

The video also gives us a much closer look at some of the “Floating Mountains” in Pandora that guests will be able to get up close and personal with when Pandora – The World of Avatar opens on May 27, 2017. The new area will also add two new attractions to Animal Kingdom, Na’vi River Journey, which will be a slow-moving water ride through the world of Pandora, and Flight of Passage, where guests will be able to ride on the back of a Banshee, a creature featured in the Avatar film.
