Universal Orlando Resort has revealed some MAJOR details on its upcoming theme park, Epic Universe, which is set to open in 2025.
This highly anticipated expansion will officially feature immersive worlds based on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and Universal Monsters franchises, in addition to the previously announced SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. These immersive worlds within Epic Universe will be named The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: Building on the success of the existing Wizarding World of Harry Potter areas in Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe will captivate guests with the magical side of 1920s Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films and the British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter series.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: Enter the village of Berk, where Vikings and dragons coexist. This world brings to life the How to Train Your Dragon franchise with thrilling experiences that will capture the essence of dragon flight.
Dark Universe: Here, Universal Monsters aren’t just tales whispered in the night – they are a living, breathing part of this world. Steeped in gothic ambiance, Dark Universe offers a multi-faceted exploration of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s experiments and their fables.
Prior to today’s announcement, the only certainty about Epic Universe was the inclusion of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Guests can expect to be transported into the heart of Nintendo’s video game realm, complete with warp pipe travel. This much-anticipated world has already been captivating audiences in Universal Studios Japan since 2021 and Universal Studios Hollywood since 2023, giving us a glimpse of the expectations for Orlando’s own level-up.
Today’s reveal also introduces the world linking these realms – Celestial Park. More than just a passageway, Celestial Park is an experience-rich destination in its own right. Meander through shops, indulge in dining, and experience exciting attractions.
Celestial Park’s flagship attraction, Starfall Racers, was highlighted in this announcement. With speeds of 62 mph and heights up to 133 feet on a 5,000-foot track, this dueling coaster promises to be an out-of-this-world thrill that combines excitement with the wonder of the cosmos. Also featured were Constellation Carousel, a unique twist on a timeless theme park classic, and Astronomica, an interactive water-play area.
Guests can enjoy dining at a variety of full-service restaurants. Among them is Atlantic, offering exquisite “surf and turf” dishes within a Victorian-style aquarium setting, complete with stunning views of Celestial Park. The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant provides a unique culinary experience with Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, all set in a vibrant ambiance highlighted by neon dragons and ethereal lanterns. Additional dining options include The Oak & Star Tavern, soon-to-be-known for its mouthwatering barbecue, and Pizza Moon, a go-to spot for delicious pizza.
Guests at the venue can also explore a variety of retail locations. For fans of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, the Nintendo Super Star Store is a must-visit, offering a wide range of merchandise related to this beloved theme. For those with a penchant for sweets, Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets is an ideal spot, providing an array of delightful chocolates and confections to satisfy any sweet tooth.
The fun doesn’t end there! Located inside Epic Universe and Celestial Park is Universal Helios Grand Hotel, complete with 500 rooms and its own park entrance.
