Star Wars Day at Walt Disney World: Ultimate May the 4th Guide

|

May the 4th holds a special place in every Star Wars fan’s heart. The time-honored “Star Wars Day” and its saying “May the 4th be with you” have held a longstanding history since the franchise began in 1977. Though there is a close association with Walt Disney World, May the 4th was only first officially celebrated in 2013. Since then, parkgoers have created their own traditions for enjoying the date while visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney has leaned into the fun.

Ride the new experiences of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

Since the 1989 opening date of its initial iteration, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue has seen its share of updates, even just as recently as this year. The ride experience now spans over 250 randomized storylines where guests encounter characters and worlds from their favorite Star Wars films and Disney+ shows.

Onboard the Starspeeder 1000, riders join C-3PO as he unwillingly pilots them through an out-of-this-world adventure where they cross paths with the likes of Kylo Ren, the Mandalorian, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, and more while attempting to evade the grasp of Imperial and First Order forces.

The long-standing attraction does an excellent job of bringing the galaxy of Star Wars to Walt Disney World in the span of a single attraction. Given the vast story potential of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, no ride experience is the same, and it stands as a great start to your later adventures in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Batuu Bounty Hunters, and Star Wars: Datapad

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the home away from home for every fan. As guests cross into the remote Black Spire Outpost in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, they are seamlessly transported from a movie studio backlot to the planet Batuu. The magic is in the details – including the use of Aurebesh, a writing system from the Star Wars universe, throughout the area. Don’t know Aurebesh? No worries—maps of Batuu include an alphabetic key to help you navigate.

Aspiring Resistance fighters, First Order stormtroopers, and space cowboys alike can purchase essentials from Black Spire Outpost. In addition to custom lightsabers, guests can build their own droids at Droid Depot or adopt a unique critter from Creature Stall.

The most underrated and revolutionary aspect of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is its interactive elements, namely, the Batuu Bounty Hunters game and Star Wars: Datapad in the Play Disney Parks app. Before we go any further, we should mention that you’ll need to be in Hollywood Studios and possess a Magicband+ to enjoy these experiences. Once you’re in the park and have connected your preferred Magicband+ to the app, you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in all that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has to offer.

First up, aspiring bounty hunters should head to the Bounty Board in Batuu, where you’ll find details about your targets and the credits you can earn for capturing them. You’ll use the Play Disney Parks app in tandem with your Magicband+ to track down your target. As you navigate through the port, your MagicBand+ will guide you with color-coded signals: red indicates you’re going the wrong way, green signals the right direction, and purple celebrates a successfully found bounty.

Alongside the Batuu Bounty Hunters game, Star Wars: Datapad is one of the most essential tools for creating your own unique and complete Star Wars adventure. Using this, guests have an array of options to earn further credits by helping Black Spire Outpost residents and choosing their preferred side in the long-spanning galactic war. Will you officially support The Resistance or join the ranks of the First Order? Either side you choose will come with its own appropriate missions. Star Wars: Datapad can translate Aurebesh signage, scan and reroute cargo, eavesdrop on secret transmissions, hack droids, and interact with various elements throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

If you’ve ever wondered what those “credits” you earned during Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run flights were for, here’s your answer! While these credits don’t convert to real-world dollars – it’s more of a points system – you can earn digital rewards like ship schematics and other cool items through various jobs and missions. Honestly, these rewards are a fantastic payoff in themselves.

No matter how you choose to celebrate Star Wars Day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, unforgettable adventures await. As you explore the galaxy of possibilities, remember: May the 4th be with you, always!
