During HHN 25 in 2015, guests ventured into the ghostly remains of The Carey Drive-In with the scare zone All Nite Die-In: Double Feature. Long shuttered after a grisly murder during a double feature, but famous movie monsters still lurk, like Frankenstein’s Monster to Freddy Krueger.

The story of the drive-in was further developed in HHN 28 with the fan-favorite haunted house, Slaughter Sinema. Guests revisited The Carey Drive-In, where previews of the latest B movies flickered across the old screen, setting the stage for adventures into films featuring sacrificial sororities, werewolf bikers, and murderous barbers.

We revisited The Carey Drive-In during HHN 2021’s Welcome to SCarey: Horror in the Heartland. This haunted maze guided us through the town of Carey, Ohio, weaving through various settings familiar from other Halloween Horror Nights events set in this Midwestern town. As we navigated the maze, posters from Slaughter Sinema adorned the walls of a hallway, setting the stage before entering the terrifying confines of the Meetz Meats deli.

The frights didn’t stop there – this haunted house theme continued to echo in subsequent years of Slaughter Sinema with attractions like the 2019 house, Yeti: Terror of the Yukon, and the Meetz Meats snack stand in 2022, further cementing The Carey Drive-In as a hallmark of HHN lore.
