Salt & Straw Opens, Guardians Mixtape Revealed, and Return of the Yeti: Your Weekly Theme-Park Recap (April 18 – 24, 2022)

|

Here’s the Orlando theme-park news you need to know for April 18, 2022.

Salt & Straw at Disney Springs

1. Salt & Straw Opened

Salt & Straw’s newest location is right here at Disney Springs! The unique, west-coast based ice-cream shop offers guests a respite from the Florida heat with their enticing tastes and flavor combos. With ice cream like Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper, Cold Brew Coffee Cashew Praline, and Arbequina Olive Oil, the shop has notoriety for introducing unlikely flavors together for repeated hits.

You can visit Salt & Straw on the West Side of Disney Springs, near the food trucks and Splitsville Luxury Lanes.

2. More Mask Mandate Updates at Walt Disney World

This week saw a shift in mask mandates and travel policies. After a federal judge in Florida officially struck down the mask mandate, airlines began to follow suit, and Walt Disney World Resort announced that they would no longer be requiring guests to wear masks or face coverings on Disney transportation. Guests were already not required to wear masks indoors or on attractions, but unvaccinated guests continue to be encouraged to wear masks when indoors.

Look over our guide page for full information on visiting the parks during COVID-19.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

3. “Awesome Mix” Revealed for Guardians of the Galaxy

The newest attraction at Walt Disney World, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will officially open next month at EPCOT. Preparations are well underway for the grand opening, and this week further details were revealed for the ride. Guests will experience the attraction to one of six songs, including “September” and “Disco Inferno,” while they go on their adventure to guard the galaxy (or at least to defend EPCOT). Fans of the Guardians franchise know the importance of a good song, and it seems like this attraction won’t dissapoint!

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

4. Time to Climb Everest Once Again

After more than four months of being closed for renovations, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is officially opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. One of the most popular attractions at Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is back to welcoming guests to an unforgettable journey and face the yeti. Since the ride’s reopening, it is now also included in the Genie+ service available to guests (previously, the attraction was available only as an a la carte Lightning Lane option).

That’s it for this week’s news! See you at the parks.
