Universal Orlando shared more details about Universal’s Volcano Bay on Thursday. Volcano Bay is their all-new water theme park opening in early summer 2017.
Volcano Bay packages go on sale on November 15, 2016. Orlando Informer’s Volcano Bay section in our OI vacation planning Center will debut later today.
Queueless ride technology
Being called TapuTapu, this wearable device will allow you to avoid standing in long lines or dealing with inner tubes. The wearable device will be available when you arrive at Volcano Bay for no additional charge.
Wearing this device, you’ll be able to virtually join lines for the rides. You’ll receive a notification when it’s your turn to ride.
Interactivity
Across Volcano Bay will be interactive “tap-to-play” spots. You’ll tap your TapuTapu wristband to a spot to trigger some sort of special effect or show scene. Examples listed by Universal include shooting water cannons at other guests and illuminating images in the volcano’s hidden caverns.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster
Additionally, Universal was kind enough to reveal the details of their state-of-the-art marquee attraction. Krakatau Aqua Coaster will allow up to four of your family to jump on a canoe and then be propelled throughout the volcano itself.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster will utilized the same technology to propel you upwards that Revenge of the Mummy uses: linear induction motor technology.
Universal’s Volcano Bay water theme park opens in early summer 2017. Look for Volcano Bay’s debut in our OI Center later today.
