Horror Nights 25 REVEALED

|

25 years have led to this… Universal Orlando has revealed the full details for Halloween Horror Nights 25.

Orlando Informer is proud to provide our fans with the world’s most popular unofficial guide to this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event. Just like the entire OI Universal Center, our information is COMPREHENSIVE, OBSESSIVELY UPDATED & COMPLETELY FREE. We hope you will use all the wisdom we’ve gained over the years to make sure your family’s HHN trip is one night you will never want to forget! You can read about this year’s full content lineup below, or learn about the event, ticketing, and tips and tricks here.
Haunted Houses
Universal had previously announced 4 of this year’s haunted houses over the summer (click the name to learn more about any of them):

The Purge
This year’s Purge is more brutal than ever. From the moment you step inside the house, dozens of vicious vigilantes will descend upon you as they exercise their right to purge.

The Walking Dead
From the burnt ashes of Terminus, through the flooded community food pantry basement, and into the darkened churchyard, hordes of walkers surround you as you relive gut-wrenching moments of the most recent season.

Insidious
Enter “The Further” and travel through all three parts of the Insidious saga. Denizens of the afterlife try to find their way back into the world using the living to guide them. The house isn’t haunted–we are.

Freddy vs Jason
From the cursed Camp Crystal Lake to the nightmarish 1428 Elm Street, awake or asleep, you’ll find yourself caught in the middle of this epic battle — where the winner’s reward is YOU.

One additional intellectual property was announced to “round off” this year’s pop culture offerings:

An American Werewolf in London

The highest rated Halloween Horror Nights house of 2013 is returning for the 25th year celebration, as first reported by Orlando Informer in April. The original house was a favorite amongst all fans, so this house is already in a good position to be one of the scariest houses of the year. It will be an almost replica of the original house, with a few changes along the way.

On the house, Universal shared:

“You’ll find yourself back on the English moors as you fend off attacks and witness the bone-crunching transformations. The best part? The wolf pack has expanded, and they’re going to be even more ferocious with a whole new look.”

Halloween Horror Nights 25 will feature 4 original houses.

Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem
The obligatory anniversary house for this year’s event. You’ll find some of your favorite characters from the past 25 years of Horror Nights in this mashup house. Confirmed appearances include The Forsaken and Nightingales (both from 2011), Gothic (2012), and classic Universal Monsters. This will be the largest house ever, topping last year’s Walking Dead house.

“Jack is back and he invites you to join him for the ultimate reunion in horror. Universal classic monsters will attack from the shadows, meat-grinding maniacs will rip every scream from your throat, and ghosts of Horror Nights past will stalk you around every corner. You’ll find yourself dying to get in and relive your most haunting memories of the past 25 years of Halloween Horror Nights.” (source)

RUN: Blood, Sweat, and Fears
This original series first made its appearance in 2001 and then again in 2006. In its third title, it’s being mashed up with Hellgate Prison, a popular maze from 2004.

“Congratulations! You’ve been selected to be one of the lucky contestants on RUN, the most popular and brutal television show in the world. In this house, you’ll have to try and avoid the skilled assassins known as Reapers as you work through “death obstacles” designed to mangle and shred—all for the amusement of the audience watching from home. And good news: the now run-down Hellgate Prison has been selected as the battleground. Good luck!” (source)

Asylum in Wonderland 3D
Universal’s Art & Design team is once again mashing up two fan favorites, although this time more subtly. Asylum in Wonderland, one of the numerous top notch scare zones of 2008, will return in house format. The twist: the house will receive a 3D treatment, with a tie-in to The In-Between from 2011.

“A new volume of Scary Tales has been released by Ultra Violent Comics: “Asylum in Wonderland”. This time around, you’ll follow the white rabbit through the looking glass and into a murderous 3-D Wonderland. All of the beloved characters will come to life in this chaotic world with an insane, nightmarish twist. You’ll be left asking one question: Is it all really in Alice’s mind? Or are the images you see real enough to kill you?” (source)

Body Collectors: Recollections
The final original mashup will set Body Collectors (2005/2008) center stage in scenes from Psychoscareapy (2003, 2006, 2007, 2010). The entire house will take place inside the asylum during a snowstorm.

“They have returned. The Body Collectors are on the hunt for the human parts they so desperately need. Emerging from the darkness on a cold, winter night, they descended upon the unknowing inhabitants of Shadybrook Asylum. Get ready to face their sharpened blades as the screams of their recent victims echo throughout the halls.” (source)

Scare Zones
Halloween Horror Nights 25 will be home to five original scare zones, all uniquely different.

Psychoscareapy: Unleashed
This zone, located in the New York area of the park, will feature the inmates of Shadybrook Asylum (which, if you’re following along, is the setting for the Body Collectors: Recollections house). Decorations for this zone have already begun to appear, and they look awesome! Silhouettes of killings will appear in the New York facades’ windows.

“The criminally insane inmates of Shadybrook Asylum have escaped and unleashed their horror onto a Halloween block party in the streets of New York. Come join the party goers as the inmates kill for the best Halloween costumes for their very own special costume contest where you will be the judge. Oh, and this will be one of the bloodiest scare zones ever!” (source)

ICONS: HHN
The obligatory anniversary year zone will be set in Hollywood, and decorations have already been erected overnight. The zone will feature both Horror Nights icons of the past and other iconic characters. There will be “special kill moments” for the Caretaker, Director, Storyteller, and the Usher.

“It’s time to take a look back in history and come face-to-face with the icons from our past. Iconic characters from the event’s 25 year history such as The Caretaker, The Storyteller, The Director and more will be found roaming the streets of Hollywood. I’ve even heard The Rat Lady will be making her grand return!” (source)

Scary Tales: ScreamPunk
Scary Tales (2001, 2002, 2008) will be coming in street format to Plaza of the Stars. The concept revolves around fairy tales gone awry.

“This year, we’re bringing to life our most horrifying Scary Tales characters with a new twist. This steampunk-inspired version of Scary Tales is sure to leave you screaming.” (source)

Evil’s Roots
Taking advantage of Central Park’s great atmosphere, Evil Roots will be the followup zone to Grown Evil (2011). The zone will have all of the traditions of Halloween, including pumpkins.

“It’s time to be immersed in Halloween’s most evil traditions in the scare zone located in Central Park. Here you’ll find the event’s traditional jack-o-lanterns in the air as you encounter evil fairies, humanoid bats, scarecrows and more. Think “Grown Evil” from 2011 but on a whole ‘nother level!” (source)

All Nite Die-In: Double Feature
The streets of San Francisco will be transformed into a theatre with a storied (and bloody) history. The zone will change throughout the night, at times being black and white.

“Last but certainly not least is a double feature of horror at The Carey DrIvE IN movie theatre. Wander down the streets of San Francisco and you’ll come across this theatre that has been named “DIE IN”, due to the gruesome murders that occurred. Enter if you dare…” (source)

Roaming chainsaw hordes
It wouldn’t be the 25th anniversary without chainsaws. Roaming in the areas where there aren’t set scare zones will be chainsaw drill teams.
Shows
Halloween Horror Nights will headline two shows. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure will return, parodying the popular culture of this year. Most excellent! In addition, a stage at the end of the Hollywood area of the park has been constructed for The Carnage Returns. This show will be hosted by Jack and his girlfriend Chance.

“Jack the Clown is taking Halloween Horror Nights back in a blaze of murderous mayhem with his army of feared followers and his companion in carnage, Chance. Remember, Jack always has the last laugh.” (source)

And that’s the 2015 lineup for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights! The 25th year of mayhem kicks off September 18, but we’ll have even more details about the event to share with you on September 8th and 16th.
