Five Nights at Freddy’s Announced for Halloween Horror Nights 2025

|

Lock the office door and keep an eye on the cameras. It’s time to clock in. Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming to life at Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights 2025 in a whole new way.

Here’s how Universal Orlando Resort teased the experience:

What began in 2014 as a small indie game quickly grew into a full-blown horror empire. Five Nights at Freddy’s puts players in the role of Mike Schmidt, a night shift security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a seemingly innocent family restaurant with animatronic mascots that felt straight out of Chuck E. Cheese… until the lights went out. Once night fell, these characters sprang to life—and not to perform. Instead, they turned hostile, forcing players to survive five increasingly terrifying nights (hence the name), using limited power and surveillance cameras to stay one step ahead of their mechanical stalkers.

The game exploded in popularity, becoming a viral hit and launching a multimedia phenomenon. In fact, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, 3, and 4 followed in a single year, each deepening the sinister lore of the Fazbear franchise. From new pizzerias and haunted attractions to managing your own restaurant by day and fending off possessed animatronics by night, each sequel to the Five Nights at Freddy’s game added fresh layers of story and suspense.

The game continues to evolve. Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Secret of the Mimic will be released on June 13, 2025, continuing the twisted legacy of jump scares and animatronic terror.

The franchise’s influence reaches far beyond gaming. The game inspired a trilogy of novels and a 2023 feature film from Blumhouse Productions starring Josh Hutcherson, with a sequel set to hit theaters later this year.
