Reader poll: When will you visit Diagon Alley for the very first time?

Amongst all the ride-through videos, drop-dead gorgeous pictures, and first-ever details, the most stupendous revelation coming out of this week’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley Media Preview Week was, quite simply, the new land’s grand opening date: July 8, 2014.

Now that we all know the day, the next, even more anticipatory question is: when will you go to experience Harry’s wondrous world for the first time? Will you brave the four-hour-long crowds during opening week? Will you try to sneak in during the exclusive vacation package period? Or will you be patient and wait until all the hoopla dies down and go later on this year or early next?

Winning the theme park wars – Disney vs. Universal on food

This was perhaps the closest Reader Poll we’ve done yet at the site, with both of the questions generating continually flip-flopping results. By the end, though, solid-but-not-quite-overwhelming leads were the name of the game, with the victor of each question ironically winning by the exact same percentage.

Which resort has the best exclusive food and beverage offerings?

Universal Orlando Resort was the winner here, nabbing 511 out of 946 votes (54%).

Which resort has the best overall quality of food?

And Walt Disney World claimed the victory in this culinary arena (although not by not as large of a margin as this author expected), landing 354 out of 652 votes (54%).
