Homewood Suites Orlando – International Drive / Convention Center: Oldie but goodie
I always come across this hotel when I am doing research for trips. Usually for some reason or another I end up booking another property over this one. Well last Labor Day Expedia was have an amazing deal on vacation packages – flight, hotel and rental car – and this was the only hotel, within my budget, that I was comfortable staying at (Note: I am VERY picky when it comes to where I stay, it is vacation after all, you want to be staying somewhere nice.)
The service at the hotel was wonderful. We had a very warm welcome, and everyone we encountered at the front desk and throughout our visit was friendly. We had an issue with our air conditioner so they sent maintenance to work on it. However, they could not fix the problem so they moved us right down the hall, which was fine with us. They were very polite and did try to fix the problem.
This is an all-suites hotel offering studio rooms and one or two-bedroom suites. Each room has a bedroom, separate living room and kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stove and dishwasher. I love the extra space and perk of being able to have meals/keep food in room. Our 1st room was somewhat worn (the carpet was very noticeable), especially compared to the room they moved us to, but overall the room was clean and comfortable.
Another perk of this hotel is it offers the “Suite Start” daily breakfast buffet and evening Welcome Home reception Monday through Thursday. The hotel also has a swimming pool, fitness and business center, coin laundry, free in-room wifi, and more.
The location is great, especially for visiting the Universal and SeaWorld parks. We’d visit the water parks during the day, stop back at the hotel to freshen up and be on our way to the Universal parks in no time. The hotel is also in walking distance of Dave & Busters, Pointe Orlando and many restaurants and stores along International Drive, as well as being on the I-Ride Trolley route.
Although it was a bit worn, this was an overall good hotel. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the location is convenient. The verdict is still out if I would stay here again. Not because it wasn’t a good place to stay, I just have other places I like to stay when visiting the area, however if there was another deal I definitely would.
