Leapies with rare February 29th birthdays have something extra to celebrate this year: several Loews Hotels are offering birthday compliments. In particular, two of Universal’s on-site hotels — which are operated by Loews — will offer the following specials.

The Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando will host a Leap Day Happy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. in Orchid Court Lounge featuring $6 wines by the glass, $5 mixed drinks, $4 draft beers and a classic martini with an island twist. “Leapies” will enjoy one of the featured drinks complimentary on their birthday.

The Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando will feature specialty holiday cocktails such as the “Leap Mary,” a bloody mary with a wasabi kick ($9.50) and the “Skip Ahead,” Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and ginger ale ($9.50). “Leapies” will enjoy one of the featured drinks complimentary on their birthday.

At this time I am unaware of any special activities at Universal’s theme parks. If you have heard of something, leave a comment below!

Did you know?

A leap year occurs every four years to better sync the calendar year with the solar year. The chance of becoming a “Leapie” with this special birthday? About 1 in 1,500! That’s something to celebrate!
